It is an institution that has just been distinguished by TripAdvisor. Strasbourg’s Crocodile, directed  by Cédric Moulot since 2015, a Michelin star since 2016, has just been awarded the best gastronomic restaurant in the world, before Spanish, English and Mexican restaurants.

“It’s really amazing, especially because it was based on the guests reviews who share their experience, and we’re the only French restaurant in the top 10” – Cédric Moulot

Indeed, the title is awarded on the basis of customers reviews and notes over the last 12 months, rewarding the ability to offer a high quality cuisine to each of their guests. A consecration for the young chef Franck Pelux, finalist of the culinary contest Top Chef in 2017, and his partner Sarah Benahmed who is in charge of the restaurant service.

“It is an honor to receive this Travelers’ Choice Award. It is a real recognition of our guests, which is particularly important to us, because it is a real common effort, between the kitchen and the service, to give our customers an unforgettable experience, ” says Franck Pelux.

“Once or twice a week, we read the reviews posted on our TripAdvisor page to our team, in order to perceive the emotions felt by our guests through their work. This is a guarantee of positive energy. Day after day, to motivate them and congratulate their efforts ” says Sarah Benahmed.

It is a revival for The Crocodile, following years of decline. Driven by the iconic couple Émile and Monique Jung for a long time, the restaurant had been awarded three Michelin stars from 1989 to 2002. By the time Philippe Bohrer bought it in 2009, it still had two, and then only one after baton change between the two leaders. A last star lost in 2015, before its redemption by Cédric Moulot, who is also the owner of 1741 Strasbourg.
